Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons Kashmiri green tea (or other green tea)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1–2 star anise
- 2 crushed cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- Sugar or honey (to taste)
- Crushed nuts (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Boil water in a saucepan and add green tea; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in baking soda and boil until deep red.
- Add spices (star anise, cardamom, cinnamon) and boil for another minute.
- Reduce heat and let simmer for 20–30 minutes.
- Mix in salt, then add milk gradually while stirring until it boils.
- Strain into cups to remove spices and sweeten to taste.
- Garnish with crushed nuts if desired.
