  • 1 bell pepper sliced (use half red and half green for color)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for cooking
  • Steak
  • 1 lb. round steak sirloin, or venison, sliced very thin
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • Glaze
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  • Prepare the steak and vegetables by slicing them and setting them aside in separate dishes.
  • In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper. Pour over the steak, then refrigerate until ready to use.
  • In another bowl, mix all the glaze ingredients and set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the vegetables and cook for 3-5 minutes, until they begin to brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 5-7 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
  • Return the vegetables to the skillet, add the glaze, and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  • Serve hot over a bed of white rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the steak for 30 minutes before cooking.
Substitute beef with chicken or tofu for a different variation.
Serve with fried rice or noodles for a heartier meal.
